Discovery Student Adventures takes pride in the quality of educators we select to lead our trips. We look for seasoned educators who have a passion for teaching and learning. Like our programs themselves, our educators strive to inspire students through education.
Because of the important role the leaders play in the safety and education of our participants, we hand-pick every teacher based on a rigorous set of standards.
Selection criteria for all leaders:
- Must be a current classroom teacher, grades 5-12
- Complete in-depth application
- Able to pass a background check
- Provide two letters of recommendation. One from a supervisor and one from a colleague
After selection, our educators have several requirements they must complete prior to traveling with our students.
These include:
- Comprehensive online safety training
- Certification in CPR
- Extensive travel best practices training
- Assessment of core curriculum for students
